The Sunshine Coast District Men's Bowls Association Inc (S.C.D.M.B.A.) was previously known as the Maroochy District Bowls Association.

In 1963 it was decided that this District be split to cater for the coastal clubs of Buderim, Caloundra, Caloundra West, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore Beach, Maroochydore Swan, Noosa Heads and Tewantin Noosa to be known as the Sunshine Coast District Men's Bowls Association and the hinterland clubs of Palmwoods, Nambour, Woombye, Maleny, Mapleton, Nambour Heights, Yandina and Montville to be known by the current name (at that time) of Maroochy District Bowls Association which was lateR changed to the Nambour District Bowls Association.

In 2004 as a result of a State district boundary review the Nambour District was amalgamated with the S.C.D.M.B.A.

The District is made up of 23 affiliated clubs consisting of Buderim, Caloundra, Caloundra R.S.L.,Coolum Beach, Cooroy, Headland, Kawana, Maleny, Mapleton, Maroochydore Beach, Maroochy Swan, Mooloolaba, Mooloolah Valley, Nambour, Nambour Heights, Noosa Heads, Pacific Paradise, Palmwoods, Pelican Waters, Peregian Beach, Tewantin-Noosa, Woombye and Yandina with a total membership in excess of 3600.

The District conducts all the usual District competitions as well as a very successful Winter Bowls Carnival, which, in 2010 will conduct its 48th Carnival.

The participants in this Carnival come from all of the Australian states as well as New Zealand. Overall approximately 1300 entries are expected. Prize money for 2009 was $28,000 and is reviewed annually.
 
With the amalgamation of the Caloundra City, Maroochy and Noosa Shires (known as the Sunshine Coast Regional Council) an in-depth review has been undertaken to upgrade the Carnival to meet the requirements of this amalgamation.
 
Currently the coastal Clubs of Buderim,Caloundra City, Maroochy Swan, Mooloolaba and Kawana run carnivals in conjunction with the District Winter Bowls Carnival with a total prize money of $120,000.
