Planning for the 48th Annual Sunshine Coast Winter Bowls Carnival is well underway.
The SCDMBA is indebted to lie sponsors including the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and Queensland Events Corporation with the money contributed helping to grow the Winter Bowls Carnival, Its entertainment value, the players and volunteers involved, the spirit In which the game Is played and maintenance of the overall quality of Bowls on the Sunshine Coast.
This is a long standing event hold on the Sunshine Coast for 47 years. It is made up of a number of Carnivals held over a period of eight weeks:
- Buderim Men’s Fours
- Mooloolaba Bowls Bonanza
- Maroochy Swan Carnival Prelude
- Sunshine Coast Regional Council Winter Bowls Carnival
- Caloundra City Bowls Carnival
- Kawana Winter Bowls Carnival
Exact dates can be found throughout the magazine for each Carnival.
Over 4,600 bowlers attended the 2009 Carnival and early indications for the 2010 Carnival show that there are over 5000 bowlers expected on the Sunshine Coast in 2010 from all over Australia and New Zealand bringing with them around 400 family members.
The Sunshine Coast District Men’s Bowls Association (SCDMBA), who is hosting the event, is in the process of upgrading the SCDMBA website in preparation for the Winter Bowls Carnival. This upgrade will revolutionize Carnival administration and allow for on-line registration and player management.
The Carnival website aims to feature The 2010 and future Winter bowls Carnival prominently Photo galleries, results pages and interactive elements are planned to improve the accessibility & the event.
