Who are we?
The Sunshine Coast District Men's Bowls Association is a not for profit sporting organisation. The Sunshine Coast District is made up of 23 affiliated clubs with a total membership in excess of 5000. The SCDMBA's responsibilities include
- promotion and advancement of bowls across the Sunshine Coast;
- overseeing the conducting of pennants (inter - club) competition;
- coordination of District representative teams;
- facilitating the training of coaches and umpires;
- provision of assistance to clubs with management issues;
- representation for the sport in the public forum.
The SCDMBA is focused on providing its members with a competitive playing environment including Inter-District Competitions and the hosting of Interstate and International Carnivals throughout the year, including the annual Sunshine Coast Winter Bowls Carnival. These events ensure the livelihood of the associated clubs and promote a healthy social competitive environment for the committed club members and new members into the future.
Collecting Personal information
SCDMBA has undertaken to comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the National Privacy Principles included in the Privacy Act (Private Sector) Amendment Act 2000 Cth.
We collect personal information for the primary purpose of event requirements, risk management and/or competition purposes. We collect information such as your name, address, telephone and facsimile numbers, email addresses, gender, age, and emergency contact details.
As a subscriber to the newsletter you will receive our newsletter via email which includes news, events, promotional offers and announcements related to SCDMBA organised events. Your email address will only be used for this purpose.
Failure to Provide Personal Information
Failure to provide the information sought by SCDMBA for the purposes detailed may not enable the organisation to complete the event process or any specific service requested, ie SCDMBA may not be able to include you in an event you may have entered or assign benefits to you as a participant.
Securing Personal Information
To prevent any unauthorised access to your information, SCDMBA has installed computer and network security. Only authorised staff have access to the data file information, and hard copies of any information are stored in locked offices.
Disclosing Personal Information
A client's personal information will only be used or disclosed by SCDMBA as allowed by the Privacy Act 1988 and the National Privacy Principles included in the Privacy Act (Private Sector) Amendment Act 2000. Further, to conduct SCDMBA's operations, SCDMBA occasionally engages independent operators and parties. Accordingly, some of this information may be used or disclosed in part by SCDMBA to:
- officers of a government law enforcement agency in connection with the lawful performance of their duty;
- a debt collection agency for financial default purposes;
- send direct mail to clients with news of special offers or the availability of new products or services;
- external advisors, including the purposes of outsourcing the processing and servicing of client credit card payments; and
- external contractors delivering event management services
Withdrawing Your Consent
If you do not consent to any of the disclosures above then you can write and advise SCDMBA at its office address P.O. Box 66, Maroochydore, QLD, 4558. SCDMBA will then ensure that your personal information is not used for this purpose. This exemption cannot apply where SDCMBA is required by law or for risk management purposes to provide such disclosure. If you do not object to the uses to disclosures as stated above, SCDMBA will accept this as having received your express consent.
Accessing Your Personal Information
Clients may, upon written request, access the personal information SCDMBA has obtained from event application forms and the related product or service forms that it currently holds. To the extent possible, SCDMBA will let you access your personal information. However there are times when the organisation is not in a position to do so (e.g. when it would be unlawful to do so). If SCDMBA denies you access to this information, SCDMBA will notify you of this refusal and the basis for it. SCDMBA may charge administration costs. Changing Your Personal Information
SCDMBA endeavours to ensure that personal information held is accurate, complete and up-to-date. Where you believe that personal information held by SCDMBA is not accurate, complete or up-to-date then advise SCDMBA in writing and every effort will be made to correct the information.

For any purpose associated with privacy matters including the lodgement of a complaint, SCDMBA can be contacted at its office, via mail, P.O. Box 66, Maroochydore, QLD, 4558.Your inquiry will be directed to the officer appointed by us to deal with your enquiry or complaint.
